The It Girl Hair Trend: Curtain Bangs

Unless you have been living under a rock this past year you have probably heard about the it girl hair trend: curtain bangs. This hairstyle seems to be cropping up everywhere from out favourite Hollywood stars and everyone in between this is THE it girl hairstyle- even Kate Middleton has rocked it.

Curtain bangs can also be an easy way to test the water if you are nervous about getting bangs, because curtain bangs are longer and frame your face.

The great thing about curtain bangs is that they are super versatile and suit almost any face shape depending on the length you are going for.

These stylish bangs also look good on a wide variety of hair lengths. We have seen babes with short hair and long hair pull off curtain bangs (and every length in between)!

How To Maintain Your Curtain Bangs

Once you make the chop you will want to make sure you maintain your new bangs to keep them looking their best. Hairstylists recommend trimming them often probably every 5-6 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows.

Because curtain bangs are usually longer they can grow out quick and end up looking like long layers instead of the perfect face framing bangs!

How do you know if you should get curtain bangs- well most hairdressers say that almost any face-shape can pull of this look, since there are so many varieties of the style it’s easy to customize.

Curtain bangs are perfect for adding lots of volume and movement. Unlike blunt bangs these face framing bangs add soft dimension to your cut. And as they grow out, curtain bangs look more like face-framing layers. This also creates a lot of texture and the illusion of thicker hair.

Curtain bang’s are the It Girls go to for the perfect face framing bangs and the great news is that they look great with almost all face shapes! Curtain bangs are perfect for commitment-phobes that don’t want to do a blunt chop.

How To Style Curtain Bangs

These bangs are super easy to style.

Start with damp hair and blow dry with a round brush towards your face (this will create that nice little swoop).

Once dry use a flat iron to curl under (still doing this towards your face)

Then use a velcro roller and roll your bangs up and secure with a bobby pin. Using a roller helps the style last and gives tons of volume.

To finish off the style we love adding a hair oil to tame any fly aways.
