There is something about Fall a new season beginning and a crisp breeze in the air. After the summer heat wave that we had I am so ready for Autumn, it’s also one of my favourite seasons. Autumn signifies the kickoff to the holiday season, there are so many things that I love about it- fall fashion, scary movies, Thanksgiving, Halloween & so much more! One of my favourite things to do with the changing of each season is to decorate and make changes to my home. Fall is so cozy and I love bringing that cozy vibe indoors. Now it can be overwhelming and not to mention costly to constantly be buying and updating home decor with the changing of seasons but is doesn’t have to be.
Tips for Buying Seasonal Decor
- Choose classic items that will be in style for a long time to come, for example brass candlesticks instead of a trendy item that you may soon tire of. Not only will this save you money in the long run but you will love the items season after season.
- Shop sales this one is obvious but if you are in need of a new Christmas tree shop for one in January as the savings will be huge.
- Pick items that are good quality not cheap stuff, I have gone with cheap items before and I am lucky if it lasts 2 seasons. Saving up for one good quality vs a bunch of cheap items pays off in the long run.
- Choose decor that is in keeping with the rest of your home, for example if you love neutrals and your home is neutral choose seasonal decor that blends in with that. Chances are you will like the items for longer.
Our Fall Home Decor Must Haves
I’m a total fall girl and look forward to decorating my house for the season every year. As time has gone on I have really refined my decor style, I now gravitate towards neutral classic items that can be used in many ways. I find adding subtle touches of the season looks classy vs going crazy with the decor which can look cheap and cluttered. These are my fall home decor must haves that are my go to’s every year.
- Candles & CandleSticks: you can never go wrong with a great smelling candle that brings the season alive. Scents evoke memories and I love using this in my seasonal decor. Candlesticks bring a warm and cozy feeling into your home, they are not necessarily fall decor but they are great all Autumn & winter long. When choosing candlesticks I love brass and vintage ones.
- Blankets: nothing says Autumn like cozying up to a fire with a coffee and a blanket. Choose one in the colours of your home decor and use a nice basket to display them.
- Foliage: A simple way to update your decor for each season is to change out your foliage for fall I like wheat.
- Pumpkins: now this is a given for Autumn since my home is neutral I like to stick with neutral pumpkins. Invest in a few nice artificial ones that you can use season after season, I also like bringing in real pumpkins it adds such a nice touch.
