We are so excited to welcome baby Blair into our family and we knew we wanted to do a special photoshoot to capture our newborn daughter and our little family! We did the photoshoot about two weeks after she was born and our photographer captured some amazing images that we will be able to look back on! Check out Blair’s newborn photoshoot below!

Blair’s Newborn Photoshoot
I knew that I wanted to have the photoshoot done in our home for a few reasons- with covid, RSV, and flu season I didn’t want to take a newborn out and I wanted a relaxed environment (nothing is more stressful then trying to load a newborn up into a car while you are still recovering). I also knew that I wanted the photos to have an organic feel while those staged newborn photos are cute (you know the Anne Getty type) that’s just not my style. I’m so glad we went with Modern Nest Photography as she captured the style I wanted perfectly!

Tips For a Newborn Photoshoot
Now if you are anything like me you want to be prepared after all you only really get one chance to capture your precious newborn when they are that tiny. The more prepared you are the smoother things will go so here are some of my top tips!
- Pick a photographer now this is one of the most important ones! I recommend researching while you are pregnant as they can book up fast. Pick a photographer that matches the style of photos you want done.
- Decide on a style for your shoot & collect inspiration on Pinterest to show your photographer. We decided on an airy organic style, so I pinned a bunch of inspo on Pinterest and sent them to our photographer beforehand so she knew what we were looking for.
- Pick out outfits for the family. Again I recommend heading to Pinterest and take a look at newborn photos you like for inspo. You want things to look timeless so try to stick with simple & classic instead of trendy. I also recommend a more neutral pallet and try to coordinate the family (not matchy but a similar colour pallet). Also find something comfy for yourself as you will be recovering I went with a stretchy sweater dress. And lastly have a few outfits for your baby and some props like blankets and toys!
